PRESS RELEASE
December 07, 2021 – Kuujjuaq, Nunavik – Makivik and the Nunavik Landholding Corporations Association (NLHCA), signed a long-term funding agreement, confirming the strong partnership between the two Nunavik organizations.
By virtue of the agreement, Makivik will provide the NLHCA with $120,000 annually over five years from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2027. These funds, which add up to the existing long-time funding arrangements, will be used to cover costs of hiring additional resources to support the NLHCA operations.
“Supporting and fostering a healthy working relationship between Makivik and the Nunavik Landholding Corporations Association is particularly important. The collaboration between Makivik and the NLHCA will go beyond this funding agreement, but I see providing this financial support as a way of ensuring that the association has the tools and the personnel that they need to create economic development and serve the Inuit of Nunavik to the best of their abilities,” said Maggie Emudluk, Makivik’s Vice president of Economic Development.
“We are very grateful for the support we are getting from Makivik and will collaborate with them closely for the betterment of our members” says Anthony Ittoshat, President of NLHCA
The agreement was signed on Friday, Dec. 3, by Makivik President Pita Aatami, Maggie Emudluk, Vice-President of Economic Development, and NLHCA President Anthony Ittoshat,
