| Current findings: | The facility is the first of its kind in the eastern Canadian Artic. It consists of two state-of-the art atomic absorption spectrometers which perform electrothermal and flame modes of metal analysis as well as cold vapour analysis for mercury. The laboratory is specially equipped for trace-level sample preparation, this includes a Class M3.5 clean bench, an ultra-pure water supply and a HEPA filter ventilation system. A stringent quality assurance program is implemented to ensure a high quality of data. The laboratory is manages by a full-time analytic toxicologist who also responsible for the training of analytical assistants.
