first 
Nunavik
 Inuk 
artist 
to 
be 
selected 
by 
the 
Royal
 Mint 
of 
Canada.

Her 
art 
depicts 
an 
Inuk 
woman 
in
 an
 amautik
 hauling
 out
 a
 fish
 through
 the 
ice, 
an 
activity 
so 
common
 in
 the
 Canadian 
Arctic
 to
 feed 
families.

Ulaayu
 Pilurtuut

 Kangirsujuaq.
 She
 now
 makes 
her 
home 
in 
Kuujjuaq 
and 
works 
for 
the
  Kativik
 School
 Board.

 Ulaayu
 is
 a
 talented

 artist
 and
 is
 also 

a
 popular

 singer/songwriter 
of

 children
  songs 
in
 Inuktitut.

 She
 volunteers 
her 
time 
to 

teach 
Inuktitut 
music
 
to 
youth 
in
 Nunavik
.
