Subsidiary Companies / Wholly Owned / Nunavik Arctic FoodsThe year has been both positive and negative for the company with new products being introduced, and promotions being staged in locations from Colorado, Greenland, Montreal, Florida, and Toronto. Sales from regular food service products have increased and there is now greater awareness in the market for caribou especially in restaurants and hotels. Early in the year, the company introduced "Nunavik Caribou Pate" to the consumer market followed by other "Nunavik" caribou products: three different sausage products, burger patties, and a caribou "ragout". All have been received very well in the market place in particular the pate. Sales of the pate were three times what were initially predicted. Over all sales increased by 35%. The winter caribou harvest proceeded on schedule but was plagued with various problems of temperature, small migration, and a poor harvest. In turn this brought about high production costs that caused many problems for the company. Nunavik Arctic Foods continued to operate with Nunavik companies such as Air Inuit, Nunavik Rotors and many local hunters in order to produce the raw material for the market. |
