Subsidiary Companies / Wholly Owned / Cruise North ExpeditionsMakivik Corporation has recently created a new joint venture, Cruise North Expeditions, that will bring tourists from different countries to our region. Cruise North is organising cruises to attract people truly interested in the northern experience, who will have opportunities during the cruises to explore and learn about Nunavik and its inhabitants. Each cruise leaves for one week, with passengers arriving via Montreal on First Air to Kuujjuaq to board the Cruise ship. Over 135 passengers can board a Cruise ship with over 30 crew members. Dugald Wells, president of Cruise North, has returned several times since and has navigated in the Arctic waters up to the North pole. " We have a unique program of cruises of first class, that ensures that the services we provide to our travellers are of high caliber. ", Wells said. He is an engineer by profession and a veteran of the cruise expeditions industry, he first travelled in the Arctic seas in 1983 beginning his career in a scientific research project on board an ice-breaker. Cruise North as an Inuit owned company is run by Inuit to benefit Inuit, and profits it will incur are meant to benefit the region of Nunavik. It is also creating seasonal jobs for Inuit, and spurring cultural and social activities and spin-offs in the Inuit communities where the cruises go. All this and more with a price that is more competitive than its competitors. Cruise North offers three voyages in the Canadian Arctic - Explorer in the Arctic, Baffin Adventure, and On the Traces of Hudson - as well as various activities before and after the expedition legs. Small groups who wish to take discovery outings can be taken kayaking, trekking, or an outing in the surrounding environments. You can see the next Cruise North Expeditions in its website : |
