Subsidiary Companies / Joint Ventures / PAIL

Pan Arctic Inuit Logistics (PAIL) is a joint venture owned by the seven Inuit Development Corporations in Canada. The company vividly illustrates how collaborating can benefit all Inuit regions. The company manages the operation and maintenance of the North Warning System.

The North Warning System in Canada consists of a chain of 53 radar and support sites in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Labrador. The system provides military air defense surveillance as well as non-military activities such as monitoring commercial air traffic, weather and atmosphere conditions, and search and rescue operations.

PAIL was incorporated in April 1994. Here are the seven Inuit Development Companies:

  • Inuvialiut Development Corporation (IDC)
  • Nunasi Corporation
  • Qiqiqtaaluk Corporation
  • Kitikmeot Corporation
  • Sakku Investments Corporation
  • Makivik Corporation
  • Labrador Inuit Development Corporation

PAIL has a web site which contains an extensive Inuit business data base, which is searchable. The site also has an extensive web links section. We encourage surfers to point their browsers to the PAIL site for a thorough view of the Inuit world.
