Subsidiary CompaniesMakivik Corporation uses some of its capital to create subsidiary companies. We have wholly owned, and joint venture companies. Our companies provide employment to over 1500 Canadians in several Canadian provinces, territories, and we have employees working abroad in Greenland and the UK. Historically, our original ventures have been in the air transport industry. Our airlines Air Inuit and First Air are our largest wholly owned companies for which we are very proud. Our other wholly owned companies are Nunavik Arctic Foods, and Halutik Enterprises. During the 1990s we developed joint venture companies with Inuit in other parts of Canada. These companies are Unaaq Fisheries Limited, Pan Arctic Inuit Logistics (PAIL), Nunavut Eastern Arctic Shipping (NEAS), and Natsiq Investments. |
